Virtual Reality in Education

VR in Education

Learning in Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) may seem futuristic, but the metaverse is more accessible now than it ever has been. Researchers from Saga University in Japan conducted a study where they used EEG’s to measure students’ brain activity while learning. The findings were astounding. While a student was learning in a traditional classroom environment, their brain activity showed a 3% increase from their resting state. While a student was learning in an Immersive VR environment, their brain activity jumped 15.5% from their brain’s resting rate. That is a significant difference. Why is that? While submerged in an Immersive VR environment, a student is emotionally connected to their learning material. It also eliminates distractions and boredom, therefore leading to higher brain activity.

IVR for LIFELONG Learning

This not only applies to K-12 education but also to training with VR in the workforce. VR-trained employees were four times more focused and felt 257% more confident than they would be able to apply their skills compared to a trainee who learned the material a traditional way.
